Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

If you're visiting Sossusvlei, the best thing to do is avoid the summer, which is extremely hot. Therefore, the best time to visit southern Namibia is in winter (May and September) but bear in mind that the desert regions can be bitterly cold at this time of year. The climate of the southern coast is hospitable from February to May, but quite cool and misty year-round, and particularly windy in August.

The best time to visit Damaraland is from May to September as the temperature is tolerably cool, especially at night. The optimum game viewing times are between June and November. The land will have dried out meaning animals must again come to waterholes to drink. Summer (November to April) also known as the rainy season is best time to travel to Damaraland for bird watching as migratory birds (both intra-African and Palaearctic) flock into the park's many habitats after the summer rains.

The best time to visit Etosha is from April to September as the temperature is tolerably cool, especially at night. From May to September the increasingly thirsty animals gather at waterholes, making it the best time to go to Etosha for game viewing. Summer is best time to travel to Etosha for bird watching as migratory birds (both intra-African and Palaearctic) flock into the park's many habitats after the summer rains.

Itinerary

Take in the highlights of Namibia and stay in some of the most stylish lodges available in this awe-inspiring itinerary. Fly between each lodge to experience incredible scenic views of the vast and desolate beauty of Namibia, and once on the ground enjoy a variety of exciting activities as you explore all this unique country has to offer.

  1. Home - Windhoek (overnight flight)

  2. Days 1-2: Windhoek

As you land in Windhoek you will be met and transferred to the new and stylish Am Weinberg Boutique Hotel. Here you will have the rest of the afternoon to enjoy the hotel and it's facilities, from the stunning Soulstice Spa and its incredible range of treatments, to the numerous restaurants on site providing an excellent choice of food.

Accommodation: Am Weinberg Boutique Hotel (1 night)

  3. Days 2-4: Sossusvlei

This morning you will be met by your private guide who will be with you for the duration of the trip. Your guide will then transfer you to Windhoek Eros Airport where your private charter down to Sossusvlei awaits. This scenic flight will take you south and over the burnt red dunes of Sossusvlei until you reach Hoodia Desert Lodge where you will spend the next two nights.

The next morning we recommend you rise early and head to Sossusvlei to visit the iconic dunes and Dead Vlei. Your guide will take you into the park and will point out the unique features of the dunes, offer some information about the unique topography and be there to answer any questions. You will spend the day in the park exploring the dunes, having lunch in the park and enjoying plenty of photography stops. In the afternoon you could head back to the lodge to relax or carry on to the Sesriem Canyon. Alternatively, you could choose to go on a hot air balloon excursion to rise above the dunes with the sun (additional cost).

Accommodation: Hoodia Desert Lodge (2 nights)

  4. Days 4-7: Damaraland

This morning your journey continues as you hop back on your private air transfer to Damaraland. You will have a short fuel stop in Swakopmund before landing in the Tywfelfontein area of Damaraland where you will spend the next three nights.

This area is home to desert-adapted wildlife, especially well-known for elephants and we recommend you spend one morning here tracking these incredible animals. For the rest of the time there's the opportunity for nature drives and a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein, home to the ancient rock engravings thought to be around 2,000-4,000 years old. For geography buffs, the Organ Pipes and Burnt Mountain are also a sight to behold.

Accommodation: Mowani Mountain Camp (3 nights)

  5. Days 7-10: Ongava Private Game Reserve

Today you private charter takes you onto Etosha where you will stay just outside of Etosha National Park in the Ongava Private Game Reserve. This game reserve is home to a variety of wildlife, and with only four properties, and not open to the public, a much more exclusive game experience than the national park.

Your next three days here will be spent on early morning game activities and afternoon game drives followed by a sundowner in the reserve. A stay here can be as relaxed or active as you like, with plenty of opportunities to spot game on a game drive, or hide to get some incredible photos.

    Accommodation: Little Ongava (3 nights)

  6. Days 10-11: Windhoek

Today you fly back to Windhoek for your final night in Namibia. You will stay at the brand new and super stylish Omaanda. This property is located on it's own private reserve and is home to rehabilitated animals. We recommend you relax in the swimming pool, or get a spa treatment before your flight home.

    Accommodation: Omaanda (1 night)

  7. Windhoek - Home (overnight flight)

Experiences

  • Bushmen Art at Twyfelfontein

Damaraland is home to one of the oldest tribes in the country, the San, and a visit to Twyfelfontein, where you can see their art, is a highlight.
