Hugged by forested valleys and alpine meadows, the charming town of Dilijan has long been reputed as the Armenian Switzerland. It is a wonderful base to explore the many beautifully remote UNESCO monasteries of the Northern Armenia.
The ecclesiastical Haghpat and Sanahin monasteries are wonderful stopovers when travelling between Georgia and Dilijan. And for those looking to get their requisite shot at the twin monasteries of Lake Sevan, it is an easy addition on your way from Dilijan to Yerevan. Dilijan is also an adventure capital of Armenia, with plenty of day trips around the forests and mountains of the Dilijan National Park.
