Places to Visit in Armenia
Yerevan, Armenia’s capital city is interestingly one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities. The city was reconstructed in Soviet times as a neo-classical fusion of St. Petersburg, Paris & Vienna. There are several exciting day trips that you can experience from Yerevan, such as Khor Virap & Echmiadzin, Garni Temple & Geghard Monasteries & Ashtarak, Hovhannavank, Saghmosavank. Our personal favourites are the Greco-Roman grand colonnaded Garni Temple and the majestic Khor Virap which has a breath-taking backdrop of the snow-capped mountains in the distance, its hard to visit and not be awed at the grace of the setting.
Lake Seven is also a must visit, it is the largest lake in Caucasus region and since 874AD the Sevanavank Monastery has been perched on the water’s edge overlooking the beautiful glistening azure lake. A truly awesome photography spot or an ideal place to set of for a hike, this rugged valley provides the perfecting setting for both.
