Description
The Melenos-Lindos hotel claims a spectacular setting - at the heart of Lindos town with its cobbled streets, nestled under the ancient Lindos Acropolis. The hotel offers marvellous views of the Aegean Sea and traditional Lindian style accommodation.
Melenos Lindos is the perfect boutique hotel, blending luxury and tradition effortlessly. Combine that with the warmest of Greek welcomes, a fantastic restaurant and a location at the heart of the quaintest Greek hillside village and you have perfection.
Each of the 12 suites has been individually decorated with sumptuous fabrics, vivid mosaic tiling, beautifully carved wood and the raised beds in-keeping with Lindian tradition. The suites are spacious and airy and open out onto cobbled terraces with sea views and tables and chairs.
Guests can lounge on the hotel's many levels or retreat from the midday sun to the charming little garden that offers shade under a pergola laden with vines. The sea breeze wafts throughout the hotel and the views are exquisite from most suites.
Meals served on a terrace overlooking the Aegean are bound to appeal and the food is fantastic - think fresh seafood, crisp salads, Greek dips and of course endless delicious olives.
The owner, Michalis Melenos oversees the running of the hotel as well as the amazing cooking classes on offer. Traditional Greek dishes are taught using the freshest of ingredients.
A hidden gem is Melenos Villa, a recent addition to the hotel. The villa is open for bookings from 15 April until the 31 October and can accommodate up to five guests. Claiming the same amazing views of Lindos harbour and the Aegean, the villa has two bedrooms, a sitting room with sofa bed and a terrace perfect for al fresco dining.
Melenos Lindos is the perfect retreat especially during Spring and Autumn when temperatures have not yet reached the Summer peaks. A stay here is effortless with a terrific restaurant, a charming beach just a short walk away and Greek tavernas aplenty dotted along the narrow cobbled streets. Not to mention the architectural gems to discover on the island of Rhodes.
Accommodation
Each of Melenos Lindos 12 suites are individually decorated in traditional Lindian style. Beds are raised on wooden platforms, ornate painted wood abounds and rich fabrics and materials adorn. Beautiful mirrors and mosaics, vivid coloured tiled bathrooms and cobbled terraces with sea views all feature.
Childcare
Children are welcomed at Melenos Lindos with some of the suites being large enough to accommodate extra beds.
Services
As the town is pedestrianised, guests are met in the village square and their luggage taken to the hotel by porters. The concierge is on hand to book boat trips, guided tours of the town and acropolis or cooking classes to name a few.
Facilities
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all taken on the gorgeous terrace with breathtaking views of the Aegean. The food is heavily influenced by Greek cooking - think delicious salads, minty tzatsiki, the freshest of fish and wonderfully seasoned meats. The restaurant is a popular choice for guests, locals and visitors alike.
Activities
The hotels terraces are perfect for a lazy day of lounging. Or if you long to feel sand between your toes, wander down to the beach cove where there are loungers aplenty. A trip to see the Temple of Athena that overlooks the town of Lindos is a must, while nearby are a number of interesting places to visit. Rhodes has been home to the Romans, Byzantines, Knights of St John and the Ottomans so the whole island boasts a rich tapestry of history and architecture.
