Ski Colorado
With an average of 300 days of sunshine a year, enviable snow records, high altitude and remarkable terrain, it’s no wonder that Colorado is known as one of the finest ski destinations in the world. There is an assortment of skiing and snowboarding options in Colorado, from the ritzy resort of Aspen to the family-friendly Beaver Creek, Colorado's 54 peaks provides a wide variety of ski terrain and some of the best après-ski around.
Originally a silver-mining town, Aspen is steeped in history and referred to by many as the world’s greatest ski town. Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass mountains are the four distinct ski areas, each of which offers something completely different. Aspen always has something going on and the bars, restaurants, nightspots, galleries and shops play as big a part as the skiing in attracting all manner of people, from millionaires to seasonaires. A strong sense of culture and philosophy give it a character unlike any other ski resort. Snowmass is Aspen’s sister resort and offers some of the world’s most user friendly skiing.
As the largest ski area in the US, Vail is a ‘must-visit’ for any keen skier. There’s over 5,000 acres of terrain, with everything from perfectly groomed trails for swooping carving turns to powder skiing in the open back bowls and superb tree skiing. The center of the resort has a real village-feel to it, with pedestrianised streets and a multitude of excellent hotels, restaurants, bars and shops.
It’s little wonder that Beaver Creek keeps its place firmly on the World Cup ski circuit. The variety of terrain belies its size; it’s packed with fantastic skiing for all abilities with endless long gentle cruisers and high speed groomers. Where Beaver Creek really comes up trumps is for families; the ski school is exceptional with its brilliant ‘Wild-West’ themed kids’ area that your children will adore. The hotels we feature are incredibly geared up to welcome families and all are ski-in/ski-out, so getting everyone on the slopes couldn’t be easier.
