Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.

For those looking for a water sports holiday in a Caribbean setting, this is the place to be! Great for families and adults alike, it has everything from dinghies to catamarans and there is a fantastic independent sailing school called 40Knots, which focuses mainly on kite surfing and SUP tuition and rental, although windsurfing is also available.
For those wanting to try their hand at kite surfing, I cant recommend this sailing school enough! Their enthusiastic, yet patient and coaxing approach ensures everyone develops quickly. Green Island is about a 10 minute RIB ride away which is where the kite surfing beach is. There are 2 square miles of enclosed water, protected from the open sea by a barrier reef and with consistently gentle trade winds year-round. Waters are shallow even out there and their on-water tuition means they're always close which provides more interaction and increases your rate of progression.
Children also benefit from these fantastic conditions and even get to sail while they are part of the well-equipped kids' club. Conditions are fantastic for all abilities, as the onshore winds will always guide you back to the beach!
Apartment style accommodation gives you all the facilities you need and there is even a small laundry area (perfect for those holidaying with children!) I would definitely recommend booking on an All Inclusive board basis so that your meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and drinks are all included - saves on the potentially frightening room bill at the end of your holiday!

A home away from home is how I would best describe Nonsuch Bay. For those couples or families who want to be slightly more independent this is the perfect place. Very well equipped kitchens within the suites where guests can make their breakfast, lunch and dinner or if they prefer can dine at the hotel's restaurant, the best of both worlds. For sailing enthusiasts this is the best place! The team down at the sailing centre can give you a refresher course or even a lesson. There is a kids club for younger guests and pools to cool off in if you prefer not to lie on the beach.

For sailing enthusiasts and the more independent families I really understand why this would be a top choice in the Caribbean. The apartments are a home from home with full kitchens, ample living space and huge wraparound balconies, yet there is a lovely restaurant on site and many places to explore and eat out around the island. I'd highly recommend a good hire vehicle whilst here, perhaps an SUV or similar as the road to the property is very bumpy. The kids club here was impressive as many of the team are sailing instructors or swimming coaches therefore kids will certainly not just be in a supervised play room but go home with a new skill under their belt.

Nonsuch Bay is perfect for families who like to get out on the water. The sailing and kite surfing school are both excellent, and there are also stand up paddle boards to hire. The beach, whilst not the best in the Caribbean, is nice enough and there is also a children's club on offer.
What I loved most is the spacious apartment style accommodation which means that when the little ones are in bed in the evening, mum and dad still have plenty of space, and can relax with a chilled bottle of wine over dinner.

Nonsuch Bay has great accommodation, so spacious and perfect for families. You can self cater if you like, or just eat in the hotel's own restaurant. The restaurant is all open air and has lovely views, the food is very imaginative and very tasty!
There is no Spa at the hotel, so this hotel is not for those who like to be pampered, but massages could be arranged in the rooms if you like.
The hotel is more 4* rather than high luxury, but very comfortable and great for active families.

For some February half term sun, Nonsuch Bay is perfect. Leaving a cold UK for over a week of Caribbean hospitality is a real tonic. The mantra of the staff at the resort is "take your time", and if you're of the right frame of mind, one to which you can adapt very quickly. Everything is supremely relaxed from eating at the restaurant to reserving one of the boats to take out into the bay.
Even for half term, the resort didn't appear busy. There was always plenty of space at the beach and never a problem booking a dinghy or an instructor. The staff here are friendly and helpful, and we were taken out on the first day on an Elite and given a tour of the bay with some useful sailing information - where the reefs are, where the wind drops off a bit. We also had the wonderful introduction to lazy sailing, with someone always coming out on a rib to help drop the sails when we came back in! We had boats every morning whilst our seven year old daughter had a memorable time in the sailing club learning to sail, playing with all the other children on paddle boards and taking ribs out to Green Island to snorkel. And under the nurturing eye of Natasha, she was out on the water all by herself in a Tera on our last day. By her own admission, her favourite bit was when she capsized! Our younger daughter either sailed with us or spent some time in the kids club, swimming and playing on the beach and finished the week looking a bit like Bo Derek with her braids!
Nonsuch Bay works perfectly for independent families, who are happy to organise their own itinerary and are relaxed about the Caribbean sense of timing! With a rum punch in hand, it's no matter that the dinghy you booked still hasn't come in yet! We hired a car to explore parts of Antigua a trip to English Harbour to see some quite unbelievable super yachts, and then to Shirley Heights the next day to see them start the RORC 600 race. By popular request from the children, we had several sundowner trips to Half Moon Bay (just a 10 minute drive from Nonsuch). The waves coming off the Atlantic are perfect for body surfing, and by the time the sun went down, we had the entire beach to ourselves. One afternoon we were taken to Green Island and left on a deserted beach for a few hours. There's some lovely snorkelling and it's a wonderful place for children to explore. Ours found a tortoise resting in the shade, and turtles swimming off the beach.
The accommodation is refreshingly spacious, and feels more like home than a room in a resort. We had a two bedroom apartment, which was enormous; two bathrooms, a good sized kitchen and large living area. It meant the four of us could spread out and not feel claustrophobic. We were very close to one of the pools, so could watch the children from our balcony, and had fabulous views across the bay from our balcony. The food at the restaurant is fresh and imaginative - try the seafood bouillabaisse at lunch just wonderful.
Nonsuch Bay ticked all the boxes for our family. A resort that's not overcrowded and where there's a real sense of freedom. If you're not after 24hour pampering, this is a fabulous destination.

If you've missed the boat on skiing, then Nonsuch Bay Resort is a great winter sun option over half term. As I was saying this will be our third consecutive trip. The sailing is fantastic for adults and kids of all experience with a constant breeze and plenty of RS dinghies to choose from. They also have some keel boats which are fantastic to race with each other. All very relaxed with good instruction in a large and very safe reef enclosed Bay. We have a great time just messing about in various boats together and separately. And my wife particularly likes sailing up to the various super yachts that moor in the bay and peering in. Our girls enjoyed running around with Natasha/Denise the childcare/sailing instructors each day. It is all very Caribbean with little structure but the girls enjoyed sailing on the hobie cat, paddling the canoes and a bit of arts and crafts. Also to my amazement looked up to my daughter, aged 6, windsurfing by herself across the cove. The whole environment both on land and in the water is very safe which gives Mum and Dad time for a rum punch and a bit of book time/sunbathing.
Accommodation is in large, very smart apartments with full kitchens, so self-catering is perfect and a lot cheaper. We stop on the way from the airport to Nonsuch Bay and buy food and booze for the first week. Then top up during the week at English Harbour. The bar and restaurant at resort are also perfect for the occasional dinner and lunch. Great spot for relaxing in the shade overlooking the Bay. The beach is small and nothing special although our two spent the mornings, if they were not sailing, on their boogie boards with flippers paddling around the cove, no currents or waves to worry about. Two big pools to laze around and very few people staying. Great spot and easy drive into Yachting heaven at English Harbour. I generally allow a further 300 for car hire for a week. This allows us to go to the deserted Half Moon Bay surfing in the afternoons and drinks/dinner in English Harbour/Shirley Heights on a few evenings plus plenty of boat envy with super yachts.
