The Anantara really impressed me when I was there and I can completely see why its a favourite amongst out guests. The rooms are contemporary, light & airy and the resort, although compact, doesnt feel over crowded. Theres a lovely pool to relax by after the mornings activities, great bars & lovely dining options. Also, as its on the banks of the river theres a nice cool breeze to cool you down which is a welcome delight in the hotter months! The Anantara also has one of the best positions in Hoi An being just a 10 minute walk from the charming Old Town, if youd like to there sooner Id suggest using of one the hotels complimentary bikes a lovely way to see the city!

The Anantara Hoi An is located just 10 minutes walk or a 5 minute cycle from the centre of Hoi An making it the perfect location to explore the city. Hoi An is not a busy city in terms of loud traffic as many areas are pedestrianised but it is quite nice to walk just a few minutes and feel like you are away from the crowds to completely relax and unwind. There is a lovely pool here and a great atmosphere and charm. Hoi An is such a beautiful town it is hard not to fall in love with it!

Anantara Riverside Resort is the best place to stay if you want to be in Hoi An town itself. It is easily within walking distance of the old town which makes it very easy to explore and go out in the evenings rather than staying at one of the beachfront resorts. As the name suggests, the resort is located by the river which gives a nice outlook, it also has a lovely big pool a spa and two restaurants. Rooms are fairly modern in design and very comfortable riverside rooms have the best views!

This hotel is superbly located in the centre on Hoi An, in the Old Town. This is a fun lively location to spend a couple of days, where you can easily wonder round the local market, quirky shops and impressive tailors. The hotel is right on the river with a lovely swimming pool and separate small pool for children. It is simple in comparison to some of the beach resorts in the area, but has a definite charm to it. The Heritage Bar is lit up with lanterns at night and is great fun to go for an early evening drink and snack. There is a Riverside Caf and main restaurant offering a variety of foods, however wondering out of the hotel for a bite to eat is also a fun option. This offers a great base to experience Hoi An and in the winter months may be more favourable than the beach resorts as there is more to do.
Hoi An, another Unesco World Heritage Site, was untouched by conflict. There are no modern buildings in the town, just ochre-painted houses and narrow roads with bougainvillea-tress and Chinese temples. We visit 18th century merchants’ houses with crab-shelled roofs, mother-of-pearl inlaid furniture, and Japanese-style beams. In one house, where the eighth generation of a family live in the same single room as their forbears, we drink lotus-flavoured green tea out of tiny ‘egg’ cups. Afterwards, we sit on the Cargo Club restaurant terrace overlooking the canal under parasols and Chinese silk lanterns of pink, yellow and apricot. We dine on delicate rice-flour dumplings and sesame-encrusted tuna.
