Ocean Eleven is one of those amazing places where you can truly feel at ease, from the moment you arrive the unassuming and laid back manner make it very easy to switch off and unwind. The rooms are all simple but lovely en-suites with a sea view right out over one of the favourite whale routes. It is also perfectly situated just on the outskirts of town and is a great base to explore the beaches and all the other amazing experiences Hermanus has to offer.

The ideal spot for whale watching straight from the comfort of your room, Ocean Eleven has direct access to the cliff path walk as well. We were there in whale watching season and the whale watching from land is absolutely incredible and you can see the whales breaching straight from the deck. The hotel has a real homely feel and is a very classic bed and breakfast with comfortable rooms and excellent service.

Occupying a stunning spot on the cliffs overlooking Walker Bay, Ocean Eleven is named both for the film starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney and also for the position, number eleven. The guest house is comfortable and welcoming, with the focus on the whales which can be seen from the expansive balcony at the back. Whales are everywhere on the walls, in sculptures and, while we were there, breaching in the bay outside! The guest house operates a whale warning system meaning that when whales are seen in the bay southern white whales and their young come past as well as humpbacks and the rarer Brudes whale the guests are informed so they can come to see. The terraces outside are perfect for just sitting and taking it all in, or the guest house is an easy walk to Hermanus, a quaint and charming seaside town, reminiscent of Torquay or Hastings. The rooms are beautifully appointed, and some have open fireplaces Hermanus, being on the Atlantic coast, can sometimes be a little fresh!

A great affordable beach property in Hermanus and fantastically positioned on the cliff edge for superb whale watching in season. You can literally sit on the pool edge watching the whales breach in front of you! There are lovely beach walks along the cliff and beaches, so even when the whales are not there it is a lovely place to be by the sea.
