  • Bathe under the stars as each cottage has its own outdoor stone bathtub

  • Explore the Kidepo National Park on foot and see the smaller things which make up the ecosystem

  • Lie in the pool and watch game come in to drink at the waterhole

  • Walk through the herd of zebra who often graze between the cottages

Apoka Lodge is situated towards the western edge of the Great Rift Valley allowing magnificent views across Kidepo Valley National Park and the panoramic scenery below. From the verandas of the Lodge guests can sit back, relax and take in the surroundings whilst planning the adventures they will have discovering Kidepo Valley and all it has to offer, such as the almost impenetrable Acacia geradi forest, the magnificent mountains and of course the abundance of wildlife.

Apoka Lodge has been built to show off the glorious natural surroundings which it combines with luxurious comfort. Everything is locally made by craftsmen from nearby villages. The lodge has ten spacious cottages surrounded by natural canvas and rocky outcrops, which are very traditional for East Africa, offering stunning views across the endless savannah. All of the cottages at the lodge have the most comfortable facilities including their own en suite bathroom with double sink and large shower. An added luxury are the rooms' private bathtubs which are found on a sheltered terrace a few steps away from the room itself, with wonderful views of the Kidepo Valley National Park. The lodge also has a swimming pool and main lodge with dining room and plenty of sitting areas.

Apoka Lodge offers a number of activities including game drives, bird watching and spot lit night drives. Kidepo Valley National Park holds an abundance of wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and possibly the largest herds of buffalo found in Africa. The best way to enjoy all the wildlife that is on offer is by the guided walks through the magical park as it enables you to really get up close, especially to the smaller species.
