Fanjove Private Island
  • Fanjove island is secluded and exclusive with soft white-powder sands, clear turquoise waters and 19th century ruins

  • Getting to Fanjove Island is an experience in itself, arriving onto this small private island via a traditional dhow is a true Robinson Crusoe experience.

  • Enjoy bare foot luxury in this intimate camp comprising of only six villas on the beach.

  • Enjoy an array of activities such as diving and snorkelling, kayak trips or marine safaris in search of dolphins and maybe even whales.

Arrive onto the Robinson Crusoe-esque island of Fanjove  for a truly remote and exclusive beach experience off the coast of mainland Tanzania. The Songo Songo Archipelago is comprised of just 6 small islands and Fanjove island is dedicated purely to this small intimate lodge with only 10 beach front eco villas. This bare foot luxury, exquisite setting boasts soft white powdered beaches, clear turquoise waters and intact coral reefs that span for miles.

Completely refurbished in 2022, these private villa are set along the sandy shores, with stunning views out to sea from your bed and your personal upstairs balcony. In order to minimise environmental impact, rooms are run using solar power and are built using sustainable materials such as palm leaves and traditional local wood.

Fanjove Island is part of the Selous Safari Company portfolio so service and dining is a key part of your stay, enjoy freshly caught fish on the beach or indulge in their well known curries under the starry night sky. For an extra special experience, request sundowner drinks from the top of the nearby 19th century tree house.

The Indian Ocean beckons at Fanjove, with clear azure waters perfect for snorkelling and diving and dolphins are often seen during boat excursions. Get out on the water in a kayak or paddle board or spend the afternoon on a private sand bank. Explore the island on foot and see the old lighthouse that overlooks the lodge or spot the beautiful bird life. You can also try your hand at fishing or simply relax on the beach and let the world go by.
