My passion for Africa was ignited on an overland trip from Arusha in Tanzania to Victoria Falls in Zambia. Since then I've added Botswana, Kenya, Zanzibar, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Namibia to the list. A PADI-certified Rescue Scuba Diver, I most recently dived in the exotic waters off of southern and northern Mozambique. One of my greatest achievements was to summit Kilimanjaro.
Among my favorite Africa experiences are gliding through the crystal clear channels of the Okavango Delta in a traditional dugout canoe trying to spot the elusive sitatunga; watching the sun rise atop Mt. Kilimanjaro, snorkeling alongside a humpback whale in northern Mozambique; taking my friend on her first trip to Africa and seeing safari anew all over again through her eyes; tracking black rhino on foot in Namibia's remote Damaraland; spending a morning with my camera on a boat in Lake Albert witnessing shoebills catching catfish for breakfast; and seeing my first wildebeest herd crossing the mighty Mara River.
What my guests have said
"We really did get a wonderful taste of Africa. We saw lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, zebras, gorillas, elephants, rhinos (black and white), hippos, water buffaloes, jackals, hyenas, African dogs, and various antelopes and birds. We were continually amazed at how close we were able to get to the animals! Everywhere we went we were met by people to help us through the airport, customs, and to find our driver, etc. That was incredible, Tor, well done. Thank you!"
"We started working with Victoria when she planned our first trip to Africa in 2013. She did such a fabulous job we used her to plan our 2015 and 2016 trips! Victoria takes the time to get to know her clients, listening carefully to their travel likes, dislikes, interests, budgetary constraints, etc. to create incredible customized itineraries. She’s very professional, detail-oriented, thorough and responsive. Travel planned by Victoria is stress-free because she literally thinks of everything ahead of time. I highly recommend Victoria, and have already done so to family members, friends and fellow travelers interested in going to Africa – you won’t be disappointed."
"Traveling to Africa can be more challenging than some other destinations. We've trusted Victoria to plan two Africa trips for my husband and I and another couple over the past few years. We're highly experienced travelers and can say absolutely that Victoria is the best."
"Our first trip to Tanzania during the Great Migration was in 2013, and we immediately started planning a second trip when we returned! Victoria gave us many options for a second trip and we chose Zambia followed by R&R in the sun at Kaya Mawa in Malawi. We're planning a third trip in the near future. Victoria will handle every and any detail necessary to make these complex trips to Africa possible. The camps and guides selected by Victoria were varied and perfect, each one offering great experiences in their unique environments."
"Victoria’s customer service is always prompt and thorough, plus personable and practical. You need not worry whether she'll get back to you on an issue. My husband has sleep apnea, requiring electricity for his CPAP machine. Though most camps don't have 24-hour electricity, it was no problem for us--every camp was waiting to meet these special needs flawlessly and effortlessly. We never had a second of doubt that we would be taken care of."
"We have had the pleasure of taking two African adventures planned by Victoria Langmead and they both exceeded our expectations. Victoria spent time getting to know a bit about us, our likes and dislikes, what we wanted to experience, and what our comfort levels were with different aspects of travel. She made arrangements that not only suited us, but were special for us The various operators we encountered during travel who have worked with Victoria pushed for the very best for us."
"Victoria has personal experience with most of the accommodations and operators that she arranged for us, so she knew what we could expect. Victoria and her team were also in touch with the operators while we traveled, keeping tabs on how we were doing, making sure our needs were met and ensuring that our trip was the best it could be. I have to say that our travel bar has been raised after traveling on the itineraries that she’s set for us and with the level of service that she has provided. We'd highly recommend any travel advice from Victoria and we definitely hope to work with her on our own future travel plans."
"It was a real pleasure to work with Tor. She helped us plan an awesome trip to Zambia and Botswana. We've been to Africa many times before, but this was our first time working with Tor. She really understood what we wanted and helped us plan a flawless vacation. All of her recommendations were fantastic. Her attention to detail and knowledge of all the properties and areas we visited made our trip perfect. I have already recommended her to friends for their first trip to Africa and am planning my next trip with her."
"Victoria arranged our first safari in Botswana. I fell in love with Africa then and decided I'd have to return. When Tor alerted me to a South Africa deal I decided to go for it. She customized the perfect trip which included horseback riding at Ant's Nest, an exciting walking safari at Rhino Post Camp, and more. The accommodations and food were superb. Tor has visited each place so I knew I wouldn't have to worry about a thing. She took care of every detail from beginning to end, which included being met at the airport and expedited through customs. We just enjoyed a worry-free, perfect safari! I couldn't have booked this trip myself for less and I'll come back to Tor for future travel
“Tor, we can't thank you enough for the amazing trip. It blew us away on so many levels.”
"Working with Victoria was an easy decision. Instantly, after our first phone call, she understood how my family liked to travel! With just a few questions she was able to clearly identify what type of places we liked to stay, how we appreciated excellent guides, and what type of travelers our family are. Deciding to safari and climb Mount Kilimanjaro, I had interviewed multiple agencies and it wasn’t until speaking Tor that I was able to commit to this journey. She instilled all the confidence I needed to proceed with our travel plans. Our trip was so successful that we couldn’t find one thing to change if we were to plan it again."
The entire trip was outstanding and we can’t thank you enough for all your fantastic help organizing it.
"Our trip was a huge success. Loved all our accommodations and the food! WOW! Many thanks for making the trip so special."
"Our trip was absolutely amazing. Everything was perfect. The climb was great, our group all made it up! Zanzibar was so relaxing and our accommodations were great. We felt very special in the house with our own private pool and beach. It was the best."
“I can’t say enough about how wonderful it was, every step of the way on this journey!! The ground transportation (drivers/guides) were all so terrific always greeting us with a smile and utmost courtesy, and were always on time. Our safari guides were top notch—informative, accommodating, and so kind. They took care of us and paid close attention to our itinerary at all times. We never had to be concerned about any detail. Thank you, Victoria, Scott Dunn, and all of the staff, managers, and ground crew for making this the most fantastic trip for my brother, sister and myself.”
“Wow, Wow, Wow! Thank you Victoria! The whole trip from beginning to end was incredible. I just can’t say enough. You all do such an incredible job.”
Favourite places I've been
On safari, be sure to take some photos of your family, home and hobbies to show your guides because they may never have seen anything like them before. It's a great talking point.
Always take a second set of sunglasses. What can I say, I’m always losing mine.
Instead of taking just one 1GB memory card, take several smaller ones so that in the event one gets damaged you have plenty more.
My hot picks
Barefoot beach luxury at its very best. You'll enjoy walks, beach picnics on remote islands, climbing sand dunes and riding horses. It's home to some of the best scuba diving I’ve ever done!
I love it because it's situated in Mana Pools, which is, in my opinion, one of the prettiest national parks in the whole of Africa.
Visiting the Singing Wells where the local Samburu dig wells to water their livestock is a very special and humbling cultural experience.
Uber-luxurious and with killer views of Serengeti National Park, Sabora Camp is understated but totally on-point for romance and style. It takes your right back to the golden-age of expedition.
