Meet our ski specialists. They all share a passion for skiing and would love to share their enthusiasm and experience with you. They have all spent time in the mountains and know exactly why you want to head to the slopes yourselves. We are continually adding to our ski hotels, chalets and resorts and each time we do we make sure a specialist has been out to experience it first hand.
I was a late starter to skiing yet in my teenage years I completely fell in love with it. I took up any opportunity to take a ski vacation to the Alps but coming out of university I knew I would regret not doing a season. Working in resort and skiing every day is the perfect lifestyle. After a season in Morzine, I had heard rumours of plentiful powder in Japan and booked a flight to Niseko for the winter. The back country on offer there is incredible and the snow really delivered. A highlight was hiking Mount Yotei and snowboarding the crater of the volcano on a bluebird day. I look forward to many more days on the mountain!
Since I first threw myself down a mountain when I was just 4, skiing has always been a part of my life - it hasn’t just been vacations, but has also featured heavily in my time at university, my social life and my job. After a season in Val d’Isère, the thought of not skiing all the time was difficult to stomach so now I try to save up my annual leave for as many ski trips as I can as I just cannot get enough time on the slopes. That said, I think there is a lot to be said for all other aspects of a ski vacation, from a cosy fire in a chocolate box chalet, the delicious food and, of course, the wild après ski.
Having started skiing as a child and fallen in love with the mountains and all things winter, I decided to spend a year doing winter and summer seasons when I left school. That year turned into nine years of working in some beautiful winter and summer resorts. I have skied in some incredible resorts across the Alps and Dolomites and can safely say that my heart remains in the mountains.
Having skied since I was a child, I have been lucky enough to ski in some of the best resorts in Europe, experiencing the slopes of St Anton, the Three Valleys and further afield. After spending two seasons in Val d'Isere, I am convinced this is one of the best places on the continent to guarantee good snow and amazing après-ski too!
I am a keen skier and quite simply adore the stunning scenery and fresh air that can be found in the mountains. From a young age I have spent much time in the French and Swiss Alps including Courchevel, Val d'Isère and Tignes. Whilst at the University of Maine, USA I was a member of the Ski Club and during the winter months spent my weekends up at Sugarloaf Mountain skiing. However, I love the atmosphere that is unique to European ski resorts and have much knowledge of European ski life. My favorite resort is Val d'Isère.
Since learning to ski as a child, mountain sports have become so ingrained in my life and work. I have skied across Europe, and spent seasons working in St Anton, Austria, and Switzerland. For me, there is nothing quite like fresh snow, mountain air, incredible views and of course, a lot of hot chocolate!
There’s no place like home”, in my view, couldn’t be more wrong! I am very fortunate to have traveled to many Countries as a result of my mother’s wanderlust! Whether it’s camper vanning around New Zealand, soaking up the vibrant Cuban culture or dancing on the tables in La Folie Douce. Not that I need any encouragement now, I most certainly have the travel bug! The mountains are where I feel most at home and skiing is an integral part of my life. My passion for the slopes only grew stronger following my season is Val d’Isère, 2009 – I had the time of my life!
After traveling the world post university, I planned on doing ‘just one’ ski season to get the wanderlust out of my system… this didn’t quite go to plan as my love for the mountains turned into a career and I ended up doing 8 seasons overseas in Austria, Italy and Greece. My favorite place to visit come sunshine or snow has to be Italy, mainly because of the food and the stunning scenery.
I have been lucky enough to travel to so many amazing places around the world. From backpacking in South America to heli-skiing in Canada, I feel like I have experienced a lot that the world has to offer. However, in my opinion, the best vacations are family vacations. Nothing beats getting away with your loved ones and enjoying fun in sun on a Greek island or boat trips around Croatia. The memories you make whilst all together, without a care in the world are priceless, and Europe offers so much within just a few hours on a plane. So what are you waiting for?!
I was introduced to the slopes by my parents at the age of 6, I wouldn’t say I loved it initially, there were definitely some tears at ski school, however this changed soon after. I decided to do a ski season in Val d’Isère in 2005/2006 and was lucky enough to have amazing conditions and discovered my passion for off piste, skiing the Col Pers Le Monal in St Foy and completing the Tarentaise Tour. I began ski instructing in Italy while studying at University which I thoroughly enjoyed. Since then I have skied extensively in the Alps, my favorite resort is still Val d’Isère though!
I think I have finally taken a turn after more than 20 years of skiing and would no longer classify myself a fair-weather skier! Whilst rosé in the sunshine will always be appealing I love the mountains whatever the weather. I hope because my skiing is improving! I have been fortunate enough to have worked for companies who think it is important to ski the mountains as well as sell the mountains so I have skied lots of European resorts – many off the beaten track that I would not have heard of otherwise. Hopefully my skiing adventures will continue for years to come!
Being a Kiwi you would have thought that I had experienced snow while growing up but that wasn’t the case for me, I never saw snow until 2002, when I found myself working a winter season for Scott Dunn. I have been lucky enough to have worked 11 winter seasons in both the European Alps and New Zealand. What is great about this is that is does mean I have been lucky enough to visit most of our Scott Dunn winter resorts both here and more recently in Canada and the USA.
