My passion for Canada first started whilst working at a summer camp in the Canadian Rockies. I quickly took on a leadership role guiding young people on outdoor adventures among the bears, moose and elk.

Over recent years I have taken the time to explore further parts of this magnificent country including the Okanagan valley – most famous for its wines and great food & sampling horse riding for the first time in the caribou country. On my most recent visit I explored the wonderful province of Manitoba and the Canadian Arctic. This was truly amazing and getting to kayak with Beluga Whales was a memory that will last with me forever.

Travel nuggets

  • Board the Rocky Mountaineer at Banff, preferably Gold Leaf Service, and enjoy fine dining and magnificent scenery all the way down to Vancouver. Then hop across to Vancouver Island to have a long, cool drink whilst stretched on its endless sandy beach.

  • Always pack warm comfortable clothes when visiting Arctic Canada as the temperatures can change very quickly throughout the year.

  • If you love good wine head to the Okanagan valley and take part in a wine tour in one of its famous vineyards.

My hot picks

Great Bear Lodge, Great Bear Rainforest, British Columbia, Canada

50 miles from Port Hardy and an ideal location for wildlife enthusiasts. It is certainly remote as it can only be accessed by float-plane. The stillness and solitude is almost surreal and will leave a lasting impression on every visitor.
