I have always been excited by travel, from family vacations in Europe and the Caribbean to adventures in more exotic climates. Egypt is my first love when it comes to ancient history and a luxury Nile cruise is one of my absolute travel highlights.

More recently I have explored Sri Lanka, which astounded me with its diverse terrain and history and Oman, where the rugged landscape makes you feel like you’re an intrepid explorer, even from an air conditioned car! I also spent six months in South America, including teaching English in Buenos Aires for three months.

What my guests have said

"As always the booking was great with detailed information about the hotel. Lots of contact from Lucy just before we left and emails on our arrival. All questions were answered without hesitation and very fully."

"Lucy Black was most helpful."

"It was thanks to Lucy's expertise and meticulous planning that our vacation was such a success. We are immensely grateful for all their hard work."

Travel nuggets

  • Sri Lanka packs a lot of variety into a relatively small geographical space with jungles, temples, nature, beaches and tea plantations all within reasonably easy reach of one another by road - making it a good option if you're on slightly tight schedule.

  • Try a traditional stew at The Residence Tunis’ Tunisian restaurant – it is cooked in a clay pot which they then break open with a sword at your table!

  • I would definitely recommend going dolphin watching in Oman. It's worth it just for the amazing views back onto the coast, where the steep mountains slope into the sea, but when pods of dolphins break the surface and jump out the water... truly special.

My hot picks

Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, Sultanate of Oman, Muscat, Oman

It's pleasantly surprising how exclusive Al Husn feels considering it is part of a big resort. Guests need a key card to get into the hotel and it has its own private pool and beach. The different styles of each hotel means there's something for everyone.

The Residence Tunis, Tunis, Tunisia

It has such a nice vibe and manages to be elegant and very comfortable at the same time. The scent of orange blossom which you can smell throughout the hotel is beautiful and the spa treatments are wonderful, particularly the purifying facial.
