Julian joined Scott Dunn in November 2012 having previously spent most of his career in retail. After reading Business Economics and Accountancy at Southampton University, he qualified as an Accountant whilst working for Arcadia (then Burton Group) in 1989.
Most of the 90s were spent at Virgin Megastores and Our Price, where he was Finance Director from 1996 to 2001. More recently, as Finance Director for LK Bennett and then Cath Kidston he helped their founders grow and sell their businesses to Private Equity buyers. Julian is married with 3 children and is a keen skier and sailor as well as recently acquiring a narrowboat with which to explore the English waterways.
Having been fortunate enough to learn to ski at the age of 10 and skiing once or twice nearly every season since then, booking next season’s trip and encouraging his family to share his passion for ski is always a high priority. Favourite resorts include Val d’Isère, Val Thorens, Chamonix and Villars. After qualifying as an Accountant, Julian rewarded himself by taking 18 months off to travel the world – backpacking through South East Asia before working for a year in Sydney and traveling the East Coast of Australia from bottom to top and back again, then home via Hawaii and the USA including a greyhound bus trip from LA to Miami via Memphis and New Orleans. Recent family vacations have included chartering a catamaran in the British Virgin Islands, a US 'Route 66' road trip from Oklahoma to San Diego and a sailing flotilla in northern Greece. Next up: summer in New England and Cape Cod.
