Several seasons spent teaching sailing in warm sunny places cemented my love for living and experiencing different countries and people, so when the time came to come back to the UK, a career in travel was the only sensible option for me. My speciality is hunting down the very best beaches, hotels and experiences in some of the most beautiful locations in the world.

The finest, whitest sand, the bluest water, the most pleasant climates and some of the best hotels in the world. Our Indian Ocean and Caribbean destinations truly are the stuff that dreams are made of. With both easy direct flights making things easy for families through to some more far flung getaways, we know there is a pristine beach with your name on it every single day of the year. I'm lucky enough to have visited many of these places, but the list is long enough to last a lifetime! As for favourite places, each country offers something unique, whether that is world class kitesurfing in Mauritius, getting involved in some serious foody heaven in Barbados, or wondering at the simply incredible relax-fest that is the Maldives, I'm never happier when discovering new and wonderful hotels and experiences for your next amazing trip.

Travel nuggets

  • When in Barbados, make sure you spend at least one Friday night at Oistins Fish Fry. THE best street food ever!

  • Antigua Sailing Week is one of the most wonderful gatherings of sailors and boats in the most perfect setting. Get settled in at English Harbour with a bottle of rum and watch the party unfold in front of you!

  • Traditionally, Shirely Heights in Antigua has been famous for its raucous Sunday night parties, but go on another night and you'll be treated to one of the most tranquil sunsets the Caribbean has to offer.

  • Climb Le Morne Mountain in Mauritius - a beautiful viewpoint with a fascinating past - you really feel like you're on the edge of the world up there.

  • Swim off the beach at Carlisle Bay in the south of Barbados (not to be confused with Antigua!) and you'll almost certainly be treated to a visit from a sea turtle coming to investigate.

  • Experience barefoot luxury where it all started - get your shoes confiscated at Soneva Fushi in the Maldives.

My hot picks

Carlisle Bay, Antigua

Beautiful accommodation on a virtually private beach, an idyllic backdrop and great service. A firm favourtie with our guests.

Shanti Maurice, Mauritius

The largest spa in the Indian Ocean, a real treat for foodies, against a rugged backdrop off the southern coast of Mauritius. A favourite for really getting away from everything,

The St.Regis Mauritius Resort, Le Morne, West Coast, Mauritius

A great resort for those who want to hit the water. Lots of activities, amazing sunsets and fabulous food.
