The travel bug officially bit me when I spent a semester abroad living in the island nation of Samoa. Being so far from home, not only physically but also culturally, really allowed me to view the world from a different perspective.
Experiencing so many new things, eating completely different food, and seeing landscapes so far from the ones I was used to became addicting. I then knew travel was what I wanted to do with my life.
Upon receiving my degree from the university of Colorado, I took off to Europe with nothing but a backpack. I explored all corners of the continent and worked at hostels to fund getting from place to place. Upon coming home, I still hadn’t seemed to fulfil my desires to be abroad. I then moved to Chile.
I spent a little over a year in Santiago, Chile, working and perfecting my Spanish. This was one of the greatest experiences of my life as I was able to travel the country extensively, make tons of local friends, and really get to know the ins and outs of the country. While I was living there I was also fortunate enough to visit Argentina, Uruguay, and Peru. Latin America is my favorite region in the world. I have traveled extensively through Central America, South America, and Mexico and love it more and more every time I go back.
I love being able to share my knowledge and passion for Latin America with my guests and would be happy to chat with you about any and all of the places I have been.
Favourite places I've been
Take a Spanish to English dictionary with you when traveling to Central and South America. Learning some of the language is always a fun way to connect with the locals and will allow for easier communication!
Be flexible! As Latin America can be hectic at times, it is always good to have an open mind and easy-going attitude. It will allow you to enjoy your trip much more.
Try all the food. You may find Peruvian guinea pig to be your new favorite delicacy!
Dive into the nature! Throughout South America you will find species, animals, and landscapes that don’t exist anywhere else in the world. Make sure you pause, look around, and are overly observant because you never know what you are going to see.
My hot picks
This lodge is a nature enthusiasts dream! In Ecuador there are twice as many species of birds as there are in the whole continent of North America. Mashpi is home to an abundance of wildlife including Toucans, Frogs, Snakes, Monkeys, etc.
This lodge is extremely isolated but will really give you the Amazon jungle experience you have dreamt of. Falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle at night is incredibly peaceful and 100% of their proceeds go to improving local amazon villages.
