Other than several family holidays in various European countries whilst growing up, my first real opportunity to discover the soul of another culture was in my gap year at 18, when I spent six months teaching in a primary school in rural Mexico and living with the friendliest of Mexican families in a small village.

Following this I went backpacking around Central America with friends. I loved every second of my time in Latin America, and the urge to explore new countries and cultures was well and truly planted.

As part of my four-year French and Spanish degree course at Bath University, I spent a further year abroad, split between Paris and La Paz, Bolivia, where I worked as a journalist and sub-editor for a magazine.

Now working at Scott Dunn, I enjoy nothing more than chatting to guests about their holiday plans, sharing my passion for travel and creating exciting and unforgettable itineraries full of unique experiences. I love getting off the beaten track and onto the bumpy ones to discover hidden gems; I also try to suggest that my guests do the same in order to experience something truly special - places seldom seen on run-of-the-mill holidays.

"Camilla was patient and worked hard to accommodate my fussiness and concerns. She listened carefully and acted upon our special requests as a family, especially with my elderly mother. She responded promptly to any queries I had, and helped with things to do, highlights, experiences, and restaurant recommendations. It was a bespoke experience and that was appreciated. I felt that if things had gone wrong whilst we were away, we would have had support. Perfect first Scott Dunn holiday – I don’t know why we haven’t used you before!"

Travel nuggets

  • Be adventurous - dig in to local food, get off the beaten path and try something new.

  • Chat to locals - it’s a great way to discover more about a place and pick-up insider tips.

  • Visit Aspen, Colorado in summer - Thought to be purely a ski destination, this charming town is a downhill biking, hiking and music festival mecca, as well as home to excellent shopping, fabulous hotels and some of America’s best restaurants.

  • Photos are invaluable in keeping memories alive, so be creative with your snaps, but remember to leave your camera behind often enough to simply enjoy where you are and take it all in.
