My love for travel started very early on, I remember being a young child and defiantly telling my parents that as soon as I got the chance I was moving away somewhere exotic. My love of experiencing new places and the cultures that came with them only grew with age and prompted me to study Spanish and Portuguese at University.
This gave me the opportunity to live in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro for year, it was then that my love affair with Latin America really started and before I knew it I was heading straight back over there as soon as I graduated. Living in Buenos Aires opened my eyes to one of the most beautiful and geographically diverse countries I have ever been to. I just loved everything about the country from the innovative and exciting gastronomical scene in Buenos Aires to the spectacular Falls in Iguazu, to the creaking glaciers of El Calafate.
It was these 2 very happy years in Argentina which inspired me explore the rest of Latin America so I set off on a 5-month backpacking trip to Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Belize, Mexico

Travel nuggets
Leave your watch behind…let things happen when they happen, just like the Latinos!
The color of the sea in Belize never ceases to amaze me… if you’re looking for scuba diving or snorkeling I couldn’t recommend the Belizean barrier reef enough. I was lucky enough to swim with huge sea and green turtles, nurse sharks & sting rays!
If you’re planning to go to the Chichi market in Guatemala, make sure you have some spare space in your bag. The last time I was there I bought enough woven table runners to fill another bag so if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to buy everything!
The Cayo district in Belize is heaven for wildlife lovers. Take the time to explore the jungle whether that’s just exploring the trails at The Lodge at Chaa Creek or going on a night drive with the local guides at Blancaneaux Lodge or Chan Chich.
