Growing up on an island off the coast of Maine, my first instinct after graduating high school was to travel as far as I could from our sheltered home. I signed up to volunteer in a township outside of Cape Town and jumped on the plane without a second thought.
Only later did I realize that this decision would become the most impactful few months of my life and spark an eternal love for both South Africa and living abroad.
After returning home for the summer, I began to jump from city to city as I pursued an education in global justice, focusing on law and human rights. I spent a year on the west coast of the US, moved to Boston, studied poverty and inequality in Sao Paulo, interned in international humanitarian law in the Netherlands, all the while traveling throughout Latin America, Europe, Israel, the US, Canada, and beyond.
Upon graduating from college, I decided not to pursue a career in law and instead embraced my passion for travel, moving to the tropical paradise of the Hawaiian Islands for the winter before settling in San Diego, where I am happy to call home.
Working for Scott Dunn has allowed me to merge my passions for travel, engaging with others, and facilitating unforgettable and priceless experiences to some of the world’s greatest wonders. Within a month of getting hired I found myself back in South Africa, coming full circle, with my love for the country only expanding and igniting a new love for Southern Africa as we traversed through the unspoiled landscapes of Botswana, the rivers of Zambia, and beaches of Malawi (Lake Malawi).
My travel highlights have been countless including shark cage diving in South Africa, biking through the tulip fields in Amsterdam, hang-gliding in Rio, island hopping in Greece, surfing in Hawaii, helicoptering over Victoria Falls, lying with the meerkats in Botswana, and so much more!
I strongly believe traveling is an experience unlike any other and provides a level of joy and knowledge you can only gain by packing your bags and diving in!
