Idea 01: Experience Peru
How about a grand tour of Peru? You could start in Lima, the gastronomic capital of South America, for amazing seafood, before flying to Arequipa to explore epic landscapes and the Colca Canyon, one of the world’s deepest. Move on to Lake Titicaca, then take a train to Cuzco, crossing the vast altiplano, and explore Inca ruins and grand colonial architecture of this famous city. A visit to Machu Picchu is a must, and after this you could jet down to the Amazon basin for spectacular wildlife and encounters with indigenous tribes.
Idea 02: Complete Cambodia
Begin in Siem Reap, home to the mystical temples of Angkor Wat, where a private guide will help you unlock the mysteries. Or, you could see it from the sky in a hot air balloon. This could be followed with a drive into the Cambodian countryside for a one-night Temple Safari experience off the beaten track, before flying to Phnom Penh for the Grand Palace and National Museum. A visit to the Killing Fields is also a must, to understand the recent history of the Khmer Rouge regime. Perhaps you’d like to wind up with a relaxing stay on Cambodia’s unspoiled coast. Perfect.
Idea 03: Italy’s great cities
You don’t have to travel far to find yourself surrounded by historical relics and stories. Italy is brimming with culture – not to mention romance. Why not start in Venice where you can glide down the waterways, visit the magnificent Doges’ Palace or admire the Tintorettos in the Scuola di San Rocco. Next, explore Florence, home of the renaissance, before finishing in Rome, the ’Eternal City’, where you can wander through the Baroque squares of the old town, and take in the wondrous Forum and Colosseum.
Idea 04: Romance in Rajasthan
From the magnificent royal palaces to battle-scarred forts and bustling markets, Rajasthan is impossibly romantic. Explore Delhi on a rickshaw, before moving to Agra and the Taj Mahal. Spend a few days in Jaipur visiting ancient palaces and riding elephants, and then head to the rugged countryside for a while, before ending your journey in Udaipur, the most beautiful and romantic destinations in Rajasthan.
Idea 05: Journey through Sri Lanka
Experience culture in the ancient Buddhist heartland, the scenic highlands, the lush green tea plantations, and the stunning southern beaches. Start with a visit to the Cultural Triangle where the remains of various cities, temples and monuments date back over 2300 years. Continue via the cultural town of Kandy, explore the tea regions, go on safari, visit Galle’s fort, and head to the southern beaches for sunset over the sea.
