Payments using American Express
On 15 January 2018 new legislation came into place in the UK to prevent surcharges being applied to payments being made via form of credit or debit card. At the same time, legislation also came into place across Europe to cap the charges Visa and Mastercard levied on businesses for processing card payments. Unfortunately, American Express were not included in the card handler legislation and have been allowed to continue to levy excessively high charges on businesses at the same time that the ability to recoup these charges from customers has been removed.
Scott Dunn have been unable to reach agreement with American Express regarding the charges they wish to levy on us since the legislation changes on 15th January and as a result we have not renewed our agreement with them and are no longer accepting Amex as a payment method. Vacation deposits and balance payments can continue to be made using Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards with no additional fees or via bank transfer.
