New for the ski season 2012/13
The resort has now fitted all of its 18 chairlifts with the new Magnestik Bar safety system (magnestick.net) making the lifts much safer for families taking young children on the chairlift and also good for those with a nervous disposition who get that funny feeling in their stomachs when someone lifts the bar up miles from the top of the lift. The new safety system automatically locks the bar in place when a passenger pulls down the safety bar on the chairlift and unlocks it just before arrival allowing everyone to have a more relaxed ride on the chairlift.

The best goggles in the world… probably
Just when we all thought that helmet cams were at the cutting edge of on-slope technology, a US company has launched a revolutionary pair of ski goggles which have a built-in HD video camera – making it possible to document your adventures on the slopes, without having to take your gloves off. The Zeal iON HD goggles can take both 1080p video and eight megapixel photos with a 170-degree wide-angle lens. And not forgetting that it still has to function as a goggle, there is an anti-fog, high-density polarised lens that offers 100% UV protection. The cost? A mere $399 see zealoptics.com.
If you’re planning to drive out to the Alps this winter, don’t forget to pack a breathalyser kit in your car as a new law came into force earlier this summer. Rumour has it that there will be plenty of spot checks on foreign cars so make sure you’ve got your high vis jacket and warning triangle too!
