If you are lucky

Some things come down to luck, if you are in the right place at the right time you might just spot something you’ll never forget, be it a breath-taking natural wonder or a stunning wildlife show seemingly put on just for you. Even with extensive planning some things can’t be guaranteed, but should you witness them, they will stay with you forever.

Other things may not be so extraordinary, but will still put a big smile on your face. Like catching a lobster to later BBQ at Londo Lodge in Mozambique or spotting celebrities while enjoying a chilled glass of Italian wine at Villa d'Este on Lake Como.

All prices include international flights and transfers unless otherwise stated and are subject to availability. T&Cs may apply.

A lucky catch at Londo Lodge

A perfect island hideaway beautifully positioned in the Quirimbas Archipelago in northern Mozambique. With only 6 villas, it is intimate and very relaxed. Kick your shoes off when you arrive, sit on your private deck admiring the glimmering sea with a cocktail in hand or enjoy a relaxing massage in the spa area. The pristine clear sea is perfect for diving, snorkeling and fishing trips and you could get a lucky catch and return with a lobster for supper.

From £2,505pp (saving £2,080 on 2 for 1 offer) for 7 nights at Londo Lodge, travel before 15 December.

Aurora Borealis from your bed in Canada

Canada’s Yukon offers a winter wonderland of snowmobiling through forests, dog sledding along frozen rives and then relaxing in your cozy lodge room after a hearty dinner. When you stay at Takhine River Lodge, gaze through your skylight and if you’re lucky you may just experience nature’s most spectacular display of lights, the aurora borealis, from the comfort of your bed.

From £3,095pp based on 2 people staying 3 nights in Vancouver on a room only basis and then 4 nights at Takhini River Lodge on half board on their Winter Yukon Fun package.

Baby turtles at GoldenEye, Jamaica

Named after the book Ian Fleming wrote here, GoldenEye is testament to the uber world of James Bond. Magically reinvigorated over the last few years, this beautiful property has reopened with brand new beachfront cottages and suites that are perfect for couples. If you’re lucky you may get to witness the hawksbill turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs on GoldenEye’s beautiful beach or maybe a release of the new infants into the water by the conservation society.

From £2,250pp based on 2 sharing a Lagoon Suite for 7 nights on a B&B basis staying now until 14 December.

Celebrity spotting on Lake Como

Fancy some celebrity spotting on Lake Como? Why not treat yourself to a long weekend retreat to Villa d’Este on the shores of the lake. You never know what rich and famous stars you might meet there – George Clooney is still unmarried and has a house nearby!

He still likes to take a paddle and can sometimes be seen from the beach swimming alongside his human keeper, in the crystal-clear water.
