Val d’Isère
Val d’Isère is one of the truly great ski resorts of the world. It is the prime destination in Europe for serious enthusiasts who are drawn back year after year by the endless variety of the slopes. The ski area is linked with neighbouring Tignes and together they provide some impressive statistics: 102 lifts including two high-speed underground funiculars, six gondolas and four cable cars, serving 300km of skiable terrain spread over 128 pistes (Espace Killy).
Val d’Isere is also blessed with its own favourable microclimate which traditionally provides excellent snow and a long winter season. The off-piste is truly outstanding, but you don’t have to be a powder hound to enjoy yourself here. It has good, free nursery slopes right in the centre of village and there is a wide choice of ski schools.
