Italy’s breathtaking countryside has enchanted the British since the era of the ’Grand Tour’. Today Italy is still, not surprisingly, a fashionable destination and if you have not already been there, you will quickly wonder why not. Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance and built by merchants and bankers has many treats. There will be a discovery around every corner that will not fail to delight - Brunelleschi’s Duomo, the Academia - home of Michelangelo’s David and Ghiberti’s bronze Baptistry doors are just a few. Venice is also a wonderful city and cannot fail to capture your imagination with its wonderful architecture, great cafe society and romantic waterways. Rome is a fantastic city to visit in the spring or autumn when it is warm and sunny. Walking around the city is a great way to see the many archaelogical sites and buildings and of course there is the shopping.
