Although renowned for its areas of mass tourism, the Algarve does in fact have some beautiful unspoilt areas. The whole coastline to the west of Lagos is less developed and has a hillier, rugged terrain, with awesome cliffs that fall away into the sea. Equally 10km back from the coast can find you in lemon and orange and olive groves. Chia Laguna is a beautiful 4* resort on the sunny south coast of Sardinia. It has recently newly refurbished hotel rooms and some private cottages dotted throughout its grounds. Better still there’s a Scott Dunn children’s club called OurSpace, staffed by our fully qualified nannies, and a beautiful, safe beach, which led the Sunday Times to vote Chia Laguna 5th in the top 20 beach holidays for 2007.
