Description
Your journey begins with a night in Delhi, before transferring to Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, a short flight away with Kingfisher Airways. From Jabalpur you will drive to the renowned tiger reserve of Bandhavgarh National Park, the landscape of which features tropical forests and woodland as well as steep rocky hills. These rocky outcrops make views in the park stunning. At the top of one peak there is an amazingly remote temple that it is possible to visit and look down onto the vast wilderness below. The park is home to a large variety of mammals and supports one of the highest densities of tiger on the subcontinent therefore offering a good chance to spot a tiger in the wild.
The &Beyond / Taj Lodge of Mahua Kothi is the result of a joint venture between &Beyond and Taj Hotels who have combined their experience of running high-end hotels around the world with &Beyond’s knowledge of operating luxury safari experiences in Africa, an endeavour which has created extraordinary lodges with impeccable service in India’s well known tiger reserves, including Mahua Kothi in Bandhavgarh National Park and Banjaar Tola in Kanha National Park.
Just 10 minutes from the park entrance Mahua Kothi - mixes traditional building styles with modern luxury. Guests stay within a traditional “kutiya” or mud-built cottage with a private courtyard and are woken for their early morning game drive with tea, coffee and biscuits being placed there.
Twice daily jungle drives are conducted in the comfort of a customised, open 4x4 vehicle accompanied by an expert &Beyond trained naturalist and give guests the chance to focus on a whole array of Indian wildlife including
After staying in Bandhavgarh you will then drive south to Kanha where you will stay in Banjar Tola, which unlike Mahua Kothi is a luxury, tented camp. Kanha is one of the largest parks in India and contains a mixture of meadows, grassy highlands and bamboo jungle. It has a large population of tigers and leopards as well as swamp deer.
Finally you will finish your adventure in the Maldives on one of the archipelago’s romantic atolls. The Maldives are characterised by palm-fringed islands, stunning white beaches and crystal clear turquoise waters, as well as some of the most luxurious hotels that we know.
