Description

Your journey begins in Bangalore after a direct flight with British Airways. Bangalore is the new hub of the Indian IT boom, yet the city has an interesting history. Bangalore means ‘town of boiled beans’ after an old woman was said to offer them to a lost Hoysala King.

You will then be driven to Mysore, a city with a wealth of history to uncover and a centre for the production of silk, sandalwood and incense. A walk through the markets is always a highlight where you will see endless spices and Indian life. You will uncover the story behind Tipu Sultan and his war against the British and his battle against a young Arthur Wellesley (later the Duke of Wellington).

Your next stop will be Sultan’s Battery in Wynad where you will stay in Tranquil, an interesting homestay where you can immerse yourself in plantation life, taking walks in the country or just enjoying your own personal tree house.

Following Tranquil, you will be driven to Nagarhole, a little visited park that contains tigers, leopards, wild elephants, gaur, muntjac, wild digs, bonnet macaques and common langur. Sightings are pretty good, and tiger sightings are not uncommon.

Coorg will be your next destination, where a stay in Orange County will either offer a perfect haven to relax, or an excellent base to explore the spice plantation, visit the nearby Tibetan settlement or temples.

Any great journey always ends nicely on an idyllic untouched beach. Neeleshwar is the perfect end for this itinerary, located in an unexploited beach where you can relax and enjoy the superb local seafood.
