Description
Your holiday starts with the long flight through Los Angeles to Tahiti, but it's well worth it as you experience your first glimpse of the turquoise lagoons and white white sand beaches.
You start with a short hop over to Moorea, the second largest of the Society islands. Here is a chance to explore the local culture, hike in lush green forests or stroll the palm strewn beaches. Your stay will be at the newly refurbished Intercontinental Moorea Resort. Set on a beautiful lagoon, it offers a choice of charming garden or overwater bungalows. Ensure you have time to take in their short boat trip to a nearby private island where local cuisine is served for lunch at a laid back bar.
From Moorea, head to Huahine. This is one of the least touristy islands and will give you the opportunity to experience local life. The TeTiare Resort is small and charming offering warm and friendly service and a laid back vibe. Explore this tranquil island at your leisure or spend a day in the water experiencing the fine snorkelling and diving in the area. The warm crystal clear waters make the perfect platform for a dazzling array of marine life. Look out for friendly stingrays.
Finally your island hop comes to an end in Bora Bora. This island will take the breath away of even the most seasoned traveller. With lush green peaks rising up from the most vibrant turquoise lagoons, it truly is paradise found. The airport is on it's own small island (or motu) so you will be whisked away by boat to your hotel, the Intercontinental Thalasso. This contemporary style hotel offers stunning views back toward the main island of Otemanu as well as across the lagoon. From here you can simply take a dip from your overwater bungalow, luxuriate in the incredible treatments in the spa or cross over to the main island and take a 4WD tour right to the top for unbelievable views. Don't forget to enjoy dinner at the famous Bloody Mary's restaurant, frequented by the rich and famous. This is no fine dining experience though, your toes are in the sand and diners squat on stools at rickety tables. Yet the food and atmosphere are superb, certainly a unique experience.
