Description
On arrival in Antananarivo you will connect to Diego Suarez from where you will be driven to Domaine de la Fontenay near Joffreville. La Fontenay is a private reserve and guests stay at the characterful homestead, hosted by the owners. The northern part of Madagascar is so little visited that fully four new species of lemur were discovered here as recently as 2006.
In the afternoon you will visit Parc National de Montagne d’Ambre with its stunning waterfalls and forests. The following day you will have a day’s trip to Diego’s Three Bays with a picnic lunch on the beach.
Heading south from Joffreville you will make a stop at Parc National d’Ankarana and see the strangely-shaped stone formations called ’tsingy’ before continuing to Ankify on the coast. From here you take a boat to the island of Nosy Komba.
Tsara Komba is the only lodge on the island with currently just six rooms with private decks overlooking the sea. There are a few resident lemurs on the island and diving can be arranged a short boat trip away from this authentic island paradise.
Finally, take a short flight from Nosy Be to the private reserve of Anjajavy on Madagascar’s west coast. It is home to a colourful array of bird species as well as having a troupe of resident lemurs who visit the oasis every day. Guests can make a day trip around Maromba Bay to see the coral ’mushroom’ islands and giant baobabs and take a dip in the ocean, waterski through the mangroves and take numerous guided walks around the reserve with local guides.

How to get there
13-hour international flight (via Paris) to Antananarivo Airport, with AirFrance. From there is a 1-hour domestic flight to Diego Suarez. Domaine de la Fontenay is a 40-minute drive from the airport.
