Description
This authentic experience will begin in Muscat, the home of the largest carpet and chandelier, located in the Grand Mosque where you can soak in the atmosphere by shopping in the old city Souk in Muttrah. Your driver will have an outline itinerary for you and he will be at your disposal throughout your journey.
From Muscat travel 165km south west to the oasis city of Nizwa, the capital of Oman in the 6th and 7th centuries. The city of Nizwa has much to offer with historical buildings, an imposing fort and a bustling souk with a fantastic animal market on Fridays. The rocky mountains, also known as the Al Hajar Mountains, are a back drop to the ancient city. It is worth taking a trip to Jebel Al Akhdar which is characterised by soaring peaks, rugged canyons, terraced fruit orchards and rose gardens fed by fresh water springs. Tonight will be spent at The View, a fixed camp in a stunning location set high up above Nizwa.
One night camping in the deserts Wahiba Sands allows guests the chance to break away from civilisation to meet the Bedouins and experience the peacefulness of an alternative lifestyle. Sitting on your private sand dune watching the colour of the sand change as the sun sets in the distance is a highlight of your desert experience.
The following night of camping is a different experience. Your tent will be pitched on the white sand Finns beach close to the seaside town of Sur, home of Sinbad the Sailor. With white, Egyptian cotton linen to sleep under combined with the peaceful waves you are bound to fall into a deep sleep. The delicious supper provided is freshly cooked and served to a candlelit table.
The last stop of this journey will be at the stylish, extremely comfortable Chedi Hotel which offers absolutely everything you would need for a relaxing end to your holiday.
