Description

The Mayan Mysteries itinerary will take you into the heart of the Yucatan Peninsula, where you will spend time exploring some of the most exciting and fascinating historical sites in Central America. Mayan ruins are scattered throughout the state, from majestic Chichen Itza to virtually unexcavated sites and blissfully unfrequented sites like Edzna hidden in the jungle. This wonderful itinerary is a perfect introduction to Mexico’s charms at an easy pace.

Begin with 2 nights in Mexico City with its fabulous museums, parks, restaurants and shops, and within easy striking distance of the Aztec pyramid of Teotihuacan or the floating gardens of Xochimilco. Stay at the elegant Four Seasons in the heart of Reforma.

Then head down to the Yucatan to spend time at two exquisitely restored haciendas set amongst beautiful tropical landscapes near the colonial towns of Campeche and Merida respectively. Both properties offer large sunlit spaces, romantic archways, beautiful patios, lush gardens and glorious swimming pools. Artefacts from the hacienda’s working days have been incorporated into the restoration. They are also within easy reach of the most beguiling Maya archaeological sites.

Finish with some serious relaxation on the turquoise waters and white sand beaches of the Riviera Maya, staying at magical Esencia. This lovely boutique property is situated on Xpu-Ha beach along a two-mile stretch of white powder sand and crystal blue water. Esencia welcomes families and there is a great swimming pool. The hotel also has an organic spa on site and a sophisticated restaurant serving delicious fresh cuisine.
