Fly to the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage riverside town of Luang Prabang and its breathtaking surrounds. Arise at dawn to watch the monks lining the streets collecting alms against a stunning sunrise backdrop. There are numerous beautiful temples that have been lovingly restored to keep as many original features as possible. Wander the streets and explore the little alleyways and haggle in the famous night market that spreads around the town every night. Sit on the street at one of the numerous restaurants and soak in the relaxing atmosphere of this wonderful town whilst sampling some of the delicious local delicacies.
After your time in Luang Prabang, take to the Mekong to spend 2 days on the Luang Say Cruise, which is a fabulous way to not only immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery and countryside that this country has to offer, but you will stop off at remote villages during your journey which really is an incredible experience.
You will disembark at the Laos and Thai border where you will be taken for your final three nights at the Anantara Chiang Rai. This fabulous hotel is set in stunning landscaped gardens with breathtaking views over the Mekong and out to Burma and Laos. Sit on your balcony in the morning watching the mist rise over the land and spend your day riding elephants at the hotel's private elephant camp or take a mountain bike to explore the countryside where you find the long neck tribes. This really is a wonderful way to end this fascinating holiday.

November to May is the best time to visit Laos and Northern Thailand with dry and warm weather, with March to May being the hottest months. June to October are the wetter months and you will usually get rain for a few hours during the day and then through the night.
