Description

Start your journey in the heart of the Golden Triangle with outstanding views of Myanmar and Laos, overlooking the Mekong River. Spend your days exploring the area from visiting the hill tribes of the north to watching the world go by on a longtail boat journey down the Mekong. The real highlight though is Anantara’s elephant camp where you can spend the day with an elephant, riding, washing and feeding them and even learning how to control these magnificent animals.

Then fly to Bangkok where you will stay for three nights at the stylish Peninsula, overlooking the Chao Phraya River. From here you can explore the Grand Palace and Reclining Buddha, bargain over the last penny at one of the numerous colourful market stalls or add to your wardrobe by having a suit made at one of Bangkok’s many tailors.

From the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, escape to Koh Lanta with its beautiful pristine white beach and jungle interior. The Pimalai is a fabulous hotel with fantastic accommodation options including family villas on the beach and romantic pool villas with breathtaking sea views. Spend your days relaxing and being pampered with spa treatments at the jungle spa and delicious food from the numerous restaurants on offer. If you can tear yourselves away from the beach, there is fantastic diving and snorkelling on offer close by and lots of fun excursions by land and sea.

This itinerary is a fantastic introduction to Thailand and is ideal for families, couples or it is even a great honeymoon. You will get a real taste of Thailand without moving around too much and still have a really relaxing time.

When to travel

October to May is the best time to visit these areas of Thailand with generally dry and sunny days that are perfect for exploring and relaxing on the beach. A fantastic time to visit Thailand is during Songkran from 13-15 April when the whole country turns into a big water fight and this is a really fun experience.
