Description
This utterly delightful and easy-paced itinerary makes for the perfect family escape. Begin with three nights at the memorable Hacienda Temozon, a grand beautifully restored hacienda surrounded by lush tropical jungle near the magnificent Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza. This former nobleman’s estate has been restored in a colonial style that evokes the splendour of past eras. There is a magnificent swimming pool surrounded by groves of fruit trees. Some of the region’s greatest treasures are within easy reach, including the ruins at Uxmal and Kabah.
Finish with a perfect Robinson Crusoe escape in the Sian Ka’an Reserve, an untouched part of the Riviera Maya near Tulum. Your stay here is at the fully-staffed private beach villa of Casa Nalum, located on a narrow spit of land with white powder sand in front and a shimmering turquoise lagoon behind.
The villa is fully committed to environmental practices, and is a superb base for visiting the nearby attractions. Stroll through the ruins of Tulum in the early evening light, go looking for jaguars, spider monkeys and manatees in the Sian Ka’an Reserve, snorkel with turtles, build a driftwood fire on the beach, or enjoy a massage by the sea. There is even a private dinghy for rent. Or just stay in and watch a movie on the 120-inch cinema screen.
