Description

This short family escape to Orlando and the Caribbean is the perfect way to put a smile on everybody’s face. The children will be thrilled to experience the fun and rides of Orlando; Mum will be delighted by the spa treatments, good food and the fact that everything is taken care of; Dad will be happy with the golfing and water sports opportunities; and everybody will enjoy the laid back beach vibes of Jamaica.

Begin by flying direct to Orlando, where you will be met and taken to the Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes for three nights. Set apart from the mayhem of International Drive, the Ritz Carlton makes a luxurious base to experience the best of Orlando, while allowing you to keep your sanity.

Of course your kids will want to enjoy the rides and magic of Disney, go wizarding at Harry Potter World, jump onto film sets at Universal Studios, have face-to-face encounters with dolphins and killer whales at SeaWorld, and maybe take a simulated space flight at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, and we can arrange VIP passes and a private guide to help you beat the queues and have all of the fun without the hassle. Back at the resort, you can explore the Everglades by kayak looking for alligators, or enjoy a round of golf at one of Greg Norman’s signature Championship courses.

Then fly down to Montego Bay, Jamaica, to finish with five nights of fun and relaxation at the beautiful family-friendly Round Hill resort. This beautiful plantation-style beach resort is ideal for families, and there are activities galore. Complimentary activities at the resort include swimming, snorkelling, yoga, sailing, tennis, cycling, the fitness centre, kayaking, windsurfing and a nature trail, while there are also opportunities to go scuba diving and horseback riding, or take trips to explore the island. Drop the kids off at the Pineapple Club, and they will love taking reggae music lessons or doing supervised water sports, while you can relax in the full-service spa or play a round of golf.

Itinerary

When to travel

The Florida Keys are a year-round destination with balmy winters, but summers can be hot and humid. The best time to visit Florida is in March and April when it is warm and sunny, before the weather begins to get too hot. Hurricanes and other less serious tropical storms can strike Florida any time in the summer up to the end of November, however the risk is greatest between August and October.

Jamaica is also a year-round destination, though there are seasonal differences to consider. Weather-wise, temperature isn’t an important factor: winter is usually warm by day and mild to cool by night, and summer months are hot. The rainy season extends from May to November, with peaks in May, June, October and November. Rain usually falls for short periods (normally in the late afternoon), and it’s quite possible to enjoy sunshine for most of your visit during these months. However, note that in Portland parish, it can rain for days on end. Tourism’s high, or ‘winter, ’ season runs from early-December to mid-April.
