Description
Fly direct to Cape Town where your family adventure begins in Cape Town. This is a fantastic and exciting city for families; there is so much to do in the area from taking a trip up Table Mountain, heading right down to Cape Point to the (almost) most southern tip of the continent or seeing the penguins at Boulders Beach, it's hard to spend too much time in Cape Town.
You will be met at the airport and driven to your hotel, where your hire car will be delivered later that day. Hout Bay Manor is a fantastic family-friendly hotel just outside the main hub of Cape Town. The rooms are vibrant and colourful and the inter leading rooms are perfect for families with younger children. The restaurant, Pure, is excellent but there are plenty of restaurants in and around Hout Bay to explore. There is a small spa offering a variety of treatments and a pool for your children to play in while you sample the massages!
After four nights you will drive to Walker Bay, about an hours drive from Cape Town, to stay at the incredible Grootbos Private Nature Reserve. The suites at Grootbos are set amongst the fynbos and have stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. The food and service are superb and there are plenty of activities to keep you occupied. The easy highlight is the marine wildlife viewing including cape fur seals, African penguins, dolphins and, of course, great white sharks. If you travel between July and October you will also see the Southern Right whale migration. Horses are available for riding and experienced guides are on hand to show you around the reserve’s floral wonders.
Please see our itinerary below. It is a suggested itinerary and can be tailored to suit your individual needs.
At certain times of the year, children stay free at Hout Bay Manor. Please contact one of our Africa specialists for more information.
