Description
Arrive in San Jose and spend two nights at Xandari Plantation, a unique boutique hotel with lots of Costa Rican flair overlooking the Central Valley, before beginning the adventure proper.
Head by road to a put-in point on the Pacuare River and travel by raft through spectacular jungle scenery down to Pacuare Lodge for 3 nights. This remote luxury lodge is a magical place for discovering the rainforest, and contains Costa Rica’s highest canopy walkway, as well as offering activities such as canyoning, horse riding and visits to some of the local indigenous Cabecar Indian communities. The lodge is lit by candles in the evening so is incredibly atmospheric and a fabulous destination for couples and honeymooners looking for a totally unique and memorable experience.
Return by an exhilarating raft to the river's put-out point before heading by road to Arenal home to the majestic conical shaped volcano. Arenal Nayara is a wonderful property and the views are spectacular on a clear day. The hotel is a great base for a range of different excursions in the area such as rafting, canopy tours, nature walks and mountain biking and there are also some hot springs nearby.
From Arenal head to Santa Teresa on the wild Guanacaste coast of the southern Nicoya Peninsula for a relaxing 4 night stay at the intimate and exclusive private beach retreat Latitude 10. Guests can do as little or as much as they like here. If your thirst for adventure has not already been quenched, you can visit Tortuga Island for snorkelling, arrange a fishing charter, learn to surf, go zip-wiring, horse ride, go hiking and cycling or visit some of the nearby waterfalls.
