Description
This itinerary is designed for a second time trip to Rajasthan, heading into areas that are off the beaten track, but offer a more in depth experience of the destination for those with a eager interest in the Indian way of life.
Begin your journey in a quiet boutique guesthouse in Delhi, ideal for those not partial to large international hotels.
You will enter the heart of rural Rajasthan, firstly heading by train to Gangapur City before driving to the impressive Ramathra Fort. You will feel the peacefulness at once, and there are countless things to see and do such as wander into local villages, head out on a boat at the nearby lake, or see the fort at Utgir or the caves temples of Ghanteshvar and Kurka.
Continue your journey by car to Ranthambore National Park, and stay at Sherbagh, a delightful little hideaway with an amazing atmosphere and delightful hosts. You will have the chance to see a great deal of wildlife, including the Royal Bengal Tiger.
Your next port of call is Bhainsrorgarh, which is again a delightful fort palace, located in an area where there are few tourists. It sits on a cliff edge overlooking the Chambal River.
We absolutely adore the owners of Shahpura, your next destination, always there to look after guests and showcase their little patch of Rajasthan.
Finally, head to Nimaj, and stay at Chattra Sagar which overlooks a beautiful reservoir and superb for birdlife, but also walks through the local villages nearby.
Catch the train back to Delhi for a night before heading back to London.
This is only a suggested itinerary. Almost every Rajasthan itinerary we create is designed for a particular guest.
