Description

Explore Northern Australia’s extraordinary scenery with this itinerary that takes you on a journey to some awe-inspiring locations. Marvel at the diversity of the landscapes and take in incredible sights, whilst staying in Luxury Lodges off the beaten track.

Begin your journey in Sydney, with a stay at the uniquely positioned and luxurious Park Hyatt. Set right on the water’s edge in the historic Rocks area of the city, with far reaching views of the Opera House and Circular Quay, the Park Hyatt is the perfect place to base yourself whilst exploring this cosmopolitan, harbour side city. Take in a performance at the Opera House, enjoy a yacht cruise on the Harbour, visit the lush botanical gardens or explore the many markets that hide down quaint side streets.

After a relaxing stay in Sydney, journey to the awe-inspiring ‘Red Centre’ of Australia to experience Aboriginal Dreamtime and the natural wonders of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. These sacred sites provide the most dramatic backdrop for Longitude 131, a collection of luxurious tents set in spectacular surroundings. With only 15 permanent tents overlooking one of Australia’s most iconic features, Longitude 131 is a unique, exclusive and luxurious way to experience this amazing destination. The tents are lavishly decorated in a traditional Australian style and there is a fantastic pool from which you can watch Uluru changing colours as the sun sinks behind. Take the opportunity to learn about the ancient stories from the native Anangu people who believe that this is where their ’Dreamtime’ began.

From the ochre earth and enormous skies of the Red Centre, travel to the rugged and remote Top End of Australia for a stay at Bullo River Station. Although easily accessed by light aircraft, the property is incredibly remote, with the front gate of the property being 50kms from the homestead! This area is in fact so remote that some of the waterholes and Aboriginal art found here have remained unseen for hundreds of years. The family-run homestead will provide you with all the comforts of home, with comfortable beds and home cooked food, whilst being an excellent base to explore this spectacular region. Go fishing in the river – watch out for crocodiles! – horse riding through the outback or take a scenic helicopter flight over the station to truly appreciate how vast and untouched this wilderness truly is.

Continue North to Kakadu National Park and the Mary River Region, made up of a variety of habitats including coastal floodplains, savannah woodland and paperbark swamps. The sheer diversity combined with the remoteness of the region creates an amazing habitat for a multitude of wildlife including dingoes, wallabies and the largest crocodile population in the Northern territory. Bamurru Plains will be your home in Kakadu, set on Swim Creek Station, a 303 sq km buffalo property. The nine spacious and luxurious safari-style rooms on raised platforms have far-reaching views across the floodplains and the main Lodge houses a library, infinity pool and the dining area where you will enjoy sumptuous, contemporary Australian cuisine in dramatic surroundings. A stay at Bamurru Plains would not be complete without taking part in the many activities on offer, including wildlife safaris, river cruises, airboat trips or even watching the seasonal Buffalo Muster on the floodplains.

The final element to your spectacular adventure will be a stay amidst the emerald islands and jewel coloured
