Description

This is an itinerary that works year round, and is ideal for those wanting to visit Chile in the Northern Hemisphere Summer, when much of Patagonia has inhospitable weather.

Begin in the desert north, staying at the excellent Alto Atacama outside the oasis town of San Pedro, the perfect base for making forays into the desert surroundings. Walk through breathtaking lunar landscapes, gaze towards infinity across the mighty salt pans, take a soak at hot springs and marvel at the power of the bubbling El Tatio geysers.

Return to Santiago to be driven to the historic Casa Silva wine lodge, set amongst the rolling vineyards of the Colchagua Valley. This magical place is steeped in history and Chilean tradition. Enjoy the stunning natural surroundings and try the mouthwatering wines and food. You can also visit the cellar, one of Chile’s oldest and most attractive.

Next board the plane for your flight out into the Pacific Ocean to land on the dot of Easter Island. This tiny island is famous for its stone carvings, or moai, that stare out to sea, and the landscapes are equally impressive with volcanic craters and wild beaches. Tours to the island’s main attractions have been included while staying at the most comfortable hotel on the island, Explora Rapu Nui.

To end with a little relaxation, we have suggested flying back to the mainland and staying in Valparaiso, a port city which has superb architecture and a wonderfully unique atmosphere. The lovely Casa Higueras boutique hotel with views over the ocean makes a superb base for unlocking the city’s secrets as well as heading further afield, perhaps to visit the fascinating museum-house of famous Chilean poet Pablo Neruda or to stroll through some of the area’s fine gardens.

Please see our Original Itinerary below. It is a suggested itinerary and can be tailored to suit your individual needs.
