Description
Savour the delights of cosmopolitan Buenos Aires with its classical French architecture and passionate tango displays, staying at the superb Nuss for 3 nights, before journeying to Argentina’s heartland, Cordoba. The dramatic open landscapes, home of the legendary Argentine gaucho (cowboy), are dotted with herds of cattle, authentic estancias, forested hills and endless blue skies.
What could be more alluring than exploring this mystical land on horseback (all abilities welcomed) and experiencing a very personal insight into traditional rural life? Stay 3 nights at the family-run Estancia Los Potreros, a working cattle ranch that offers superb horse riding through captivating landscapes.
From here head to the breathtaking Iguazu Falls, where cascades of tremendous power give rise to a magical mist that hovers above the tropical forest – a home to rare flora and fauna. The Panoramic in Puerto Iguazu is a stylish base for 2 nights, from where you can explore both sides of the Falls.
Continue by light plane directly to Estancia Rincon del Socorro to stay 3 nights in the heart of the magical Ibera Wetlands. At this authentic and extremely comfortable estancia expert gaucho guides will take you out by 4WD, boat, on horseback and on foot to see the amazing and abundant wildlife - howler monkeys, anteaters, caimans, colourful flocks of birds and much more. There are also opportunities to take part in the seasonal cattle round-ups or simply relax and get to know the gaucho lifestyle as you share a mate tea with one of the friendly estate workers.
Fly back to Buenos Aires for a final night at Nuss before returning home.

When to travel
Northern Argentina can be visited any time of year, but summers (November-March) can be very hot and humid. The ideal time to go is from April to October as days are warm and the nights cool, perfect for sitting round the campfire, and the wildlife is more visible. Availability in December and January is usually very tight, so book well in advance if you wish to secure accommodation at this time.
