Description

Flying to Tasmania is easier than you think, as it is just a short hop from Melbourne or Sydney. Arriving in Hobart, you immediately feel relaxed, as the pace of life is gentler here and the air is the freshest in all of Australia.

This itinerary is designed to give you a taste of the incredible hospitality, amazing scenery and first class locally grown food and wine on offer.

Islington is the perfect place to start your Tasmanian experience. More like a luxury private house than a hotel, your hosts greet you warmly into their stunning home. One of the oldest and best kept properties in Hobart, this historic house sits in a mature garden under the gaze of Mt Wellington. Enjoy wandering around Salamanca Markets and exploring the convict history by day and eating out at the world famous restaurants. You will have a hire car throughout your holiday, so why not drive down to Port Arthur, the perfectly preserved convict museum where settlement began.

The Priory is sister property to Islington. A private fishing lodge, you feel transported to the Scottish Highlands, yet with friendly Australian hospitality and climate.

A break on the beach is now in order, and you don’t get cleaner or more deserted beaches than on the east coast of Tasmania. Overlooking the Freycinet Peninsula, home to the famous Wine Glass Bay, the beach houses at Piermont Retreat are light and airy structures - the perfect base whilst you relax and explore the area.

Rejuvinated, drive up to Cradle Mountain and go trekking and Tasmanian Devil spotting. High up in the mountains here you often even encounter snow, highlighting the variety in landscapes in such a small island.

For a final destination, before flying home from Launceston, Red Feather Inn is another example of fine historical architecture. Your hosts will cook divine food and you can unwind in your elegant suite. By day, our private guide Craig will take you to his wilderness camp to educate you on bush tucker and local wildlife before cooking up a treat over the fire.

A trip to Tasmania is an eye opening, breath taking adventure and is a must for those who think they have seen all Australia has to offer.
