Description
Arrive in Tokyo in the early morning and take the world-famous bullet train directly to Kyoto. This is the old imperial capital of Japan and the cultural centre for the country. Explore the gardens, temples, shrines and the old town streets. A visit to Gion, the Geisha district is also fascinating and you could also take part in a traditional tea ceremony or try on a kimono. Stay at the Hyatt Regency, in the perfect location for exploring Kyoto or if you prefer, then a more traditional Ryokan is also an option.
Then take the bullet train back to Tokyo, where you will be dazzled by it’s futuristic cityscapes and the bustling shopping and entertainment areas, where you can test the latest high-tech gadgets. Visit the upmarket shopping area of Ginza and make sure to spend a morning wandering around the Tokyo fish market, that is the largest of its kind in the world. At the end of the day, retreat back to the Peninsula Tokyo with its world-class service and central location close to the Imperial Palace Gardens and Tokyo train station.

When to travel
Japan has four seasons, similar to the UK and is best visited in spring from March to May and autumn from September to November. December to January can be cold with snow and the summer is hot and humid. The end of March and early April is a particularly good time to visit as this is the cherry blossom season as is October for the autumn colours.
