Description

With its spectacular position set high on a cliff, Choupana Hills Hotel and Spa boasts an incredible view over the city rooftops of Funchal and across to the Atlantic Ocean.

This ultra chic hotel combines African and Asian inspired decor, creating a spacious, exotic and calming ambience. The rooms comprise of 34 bungalows built on pillars, surrounded by sumptuous gardens and many with large terraces with views of the Atlantic ocean.

The Health and Beauty Spa is a tranquil area offering innovative methods of relaxation, massage and treatments using Elemis products. There are two heated swimming pools, one in the spa and the other an outdoor lagoon pool. Sample the delights of the Xopana restaurant, champagne cocktails in the Basalt bar or savour the stunning views from the open-air jacuzzi bath on the terrace of your suite.

The Levave dos Tornos walk towards Monte crosses the hotel grounds. This 1 hour 30 minute scenic walk finishes at the famous and beautiful gardens of Monte Palace, well worth a visit. In Funchal, attractions include the market, the Madeira story centre and a cable car ride from Monte to Funchal city centre revealing inspiring 360 degree vistas.

62 wooden bungalows are set within sub tropical gardens, 56 deluxe double bedrooms, 4 suites and 2 family bungalows decorated with a combination of tropical and traditional style. Deluxe rooms boast dazzling views of the lush gardens or the vast Atlantic ocean. Family bungalows have 2 double rooms, 2 balconies and 2 bathrooms creating plenty of space for everyone. Suites are blessed with additional privacy and exclusivity, living room and outdoor Jacuzzi. Every room has TV and internet.

There are no facilities except a children’s menu is available in the Xopana Restaurant.

Regional products are used in cuisine that innovates local cooking techniques, resulting in a pure fusion of unique flavours at the Xopana restaurant, where wooden beams are a constant reminder of the exotic atmosphere that is also reflected in the cocktails served at the Basalt Bar. The Pool bar serves healthy and creative lunch options. There is an outdoor pool, a Health and Beauty Spa with Elemis products and indoor pool. There is a Golf course nearby.

Activities

The hotel offers reduced green fees at Palheiro & Santo de Serra golf courses. There are fantastic walks and cycle routes in the area.
