Quinta do Calma is recommended for
Scott Dunn Villa 0 FamilyVillaParties & eventsBeach

Issy Von Simson (Press 'Tatler on 01 August 2012')

It goes without saying that the villa is completely fabulous, that the staff are overwhelmingly lovely and that the food is finger-lickingly delicious (salt-baked sea bass, spicy grilled prawns, guacamole and nasturtium salads) but the big, shout-about-it reason to come, if you have children, is that here you will be about as relaxed as you can possibly, feasibly, conceivably get. So you just go and lie down by the pool. Your offspring will be entertained out of their brains by not one but two delightfully cheery, utterly professional, full-time nannies with a bulging timetable of indoor activities (arts and crafts and glitter and glue) and outdoor fun and games (water ballooning and excitable games). There's a crazy, colourful playroom, a ping-pong table, a basketball hoop, a trampoline hidden in the herb garden and a slide and seesaw tucked out of sight on the lawn at the bottom of the garden. Kids are kings, with a capital K. What a corker.
