Description

Built by an English aristocrat family in 1830, the hotel has the atmosphere of a stylish private villa and is known as one of the most exclusive hotels in Taormina. Located in the beautiful bay of Mazarro, the villa has direct access to its private beach and is surrounded by sub-tropical gardens. The promontory around the bay is dotted with magical caves, including the Grotta Azzurra, which can be visited by boat.

The hotel’s main restaurant, Oliviero, serves the freshest of seafood and enjoys a stunning location on a panoramic terrace with lovely views of the crystal clear water in the bay. At night you can enjoy an after dinner drink or cocktail under the stars at the waterside bar with live music entertainment.

The majority of rooms and suites look out over the beach and pristine waters of the bay of Mazarro. Most rooms feature expansive balconies and terraces, equipped with tables and chairs so that guests can enjoy an al fresco breakfast overlooking the sparkling sea.

Built on the cliffs of Mount Tauro, the town of Taormina affords spectacular views of the coast with its rugged rocks, sandy coves and crystal clear waters, and offers a prime viewing spot for sweeping panoramas of Mount Etna, Europe’s largest volcano. At night, the lights twinkling in Capo Taormina and the curve of the bay of Giardini Naxos are inexpressibly beautiful.

When to travel

Sicily enjoys a blissful Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and warm springs and autumns. Even February, the coolest month, has average temperatures of 13°C, which means that any time of year is suitable.

If you want to go sightseeing around the island’s legendary historic and natural sites, October–November and March–June are reliably warm, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 26°C. July and August are blessed with glorious sunshine, and average temperatures of around 28°C.

August is peak tourist season, many businesses close for two or three weeks. This is when most Italians go on holiday, about 70% of the population takes their vacation at the same time, therefore hardly any work gets done in Italy during that period and beaches can be extremely crowded.
