Description

Alongside its sister chalets Mathilda, Alice and Marie, Chalet Pauline epitomises the clever blend of the classic-look ski chalet allied with feature packed facilities to give some of the best ski chalet accommodation in the Alps. The design incorporates copious amounts of wood and as soon as you enter the chalet you are cosseted by the calm and warmth of the chalet - exactly what you would expect a traditional chalet to offer. The size of the chalet is impressive for a 5 bedroom property. The second floor living room is dominated by the open fireplace and panoramic windows overlooking Val d'Isère and the surrounding mountains. In warmer weather there's nothing better than sipping champagne on the balcony as the sun slowly slips behind the snow covered peaks. The living area is open plan, with a separate kitchen. Beautifully presented meals are served by your private chef on the main dining table although a smaller dining alcove allows children to have their own dinner party away from the adults. As you would expect from a chalet of this quality, Pauline boasts a comprehensive entertainment system plus wi-fi throughout.

Above the living area, one bedroom occupies the whole top floor, giving the perfect place to rest your tired limbs, kept warm by luxuriously fluffy duvets. Of the other bedrooms, each is dominated by the warm wood, but each is distinct in its character - Chalet Pauline does not do standard box shaped rooms! Three of these bedrooms are on the first floor including (arguably) the master room with it separate dressing area, well crafted bathroom and views towards the mountains.

The fifth bedroom is on the ground floor, next to the wellness area of the Chalet Pauline. Relaxing after a day's skiing is a vital part of any ski holiday, and what better way than to take a relaxed swim in the swimming pool before soothing muscles and cleansing your skin in the steam room. Alternatively just sit back on a lounger and drift off in anticipation of a pre-dinner glass of champagne. There is a separate TV room on the ground floor which is a great place for children to play or for some of your party to enjoy a film. The ground floor is completed by the ski room with the heated boot rack making sure your boots are perfectly ready for the next day's skiing.

Although the Scott Dunn shuttle service will take you to the lifts, the chalet is in the quiet and exclusive Les Fermes area of Val d'Isère, only a 10 minute walk to the centre of the village. Close enough for convenience but secluded enough to avoid any late night noise from the village.

Chalet Pauline effortlessly blends the best of traditional chalet architecture with modern day sophistication to deliver an outstanding luxury chalet experience. If your requirements for a ski chalet holiday are traditional design, spacious living areas and bedrooms, en-suite facilities, swimming pool, steam room, open log fire, delicious food and wine served beautifully and modern entertainment systems then it delivers perfectly. Whether you are travelling with children or a group of adults, Chalet Pauline will take it all in its stride.

Guide price £1,980 per person per week (Jan)

Accommodation

Chalet Pauline has five bedrooms all featuring traditional wooden beams and Moroccan style ceilings. Three of the five bedrooms are large, making them ideal for sitting in peace and quiet and reading a book (or accommodating a cot or an extra bed).

The party leader can choose between two bedrooms which could be considered the master. Room 5 has a South facing balcony and is particularly spacious but Room 2 has a cosy sofa corner and a view of the Isère valley.

Each room has an en-suite bathroom decorated with a mixture of wood and modern slate tiles. All bedrooms have electronic safes.

Childcare

Scott Dunn pioneered skiing holidays with childcare and this is an optional extra that many families consider indispensable. We offer childcare from 4 months and ensure that children have the most fantastic holidays and that parents can completely relax with peace of mind that their family is in great hands. Your children can be taken to and collected from ski lessons and will be kept entertained with a varied and imaginative activity programme and given healthy home made lunches and snacks.

Our childcare staff are qualified professionals and guests at Pauline benefit from our exclusive children's club. Babysitting is available too. A wide range of equipment for babies and toddlers can be provided to all guests on request, usually free of charge.

Facilities

Chalet Pauline benefits from a fabulous Wellness area with indoor swimming pool with jet stream and steam room. Also on the ground floor is the ski/boot area with boot warmers. The separate TV room is a great facility offering children their own space to play, watch TV or to use the X-Box 360. Alternatively it could be used to accommodate an extra person if your party is bigger than 10 or it can provide a quiet office space if required.

In the living area, Pauline is equipped with flat screen, satellite TV, DVD player and sound system. There is also a selection of games.

Activities

Val d’Isère is a mecca for downhill skiing for good reason. It has enough to keep skiers of all standards challenged and entertained for a lifetime, let alone a week. The off piste potential is limitless and the snow record enviable.

Val d'Isère has plenty to offer less enthusiastic skiers too. The new Oxygen centre has fantastic facilities including 2 swimming pools, climbing wall, multi activity sports hall, fitness suite, gym, squash courts and a Wellness area with sauna, steam bath, spa, cold baths and hydro-massage.

Designated walking trails are a great way of appreciating the scenery and there is an ice rink, husky riding, parapenting, skidooing, cross country skiing and much more.

There is a wealth of quality restaurants in the village and on the mountain (many of which are accessible to non skiers). The shops and galleries offer some great shopping (both the window and the real varieties).

Services

Chalet Pauline is complemented by our Premier service. Our team pride themselves on ensuring that service is seamless and anticipating your every need. Your private chef will serve mouthwatering dishes from a menu tailored to your tastes. Your hosts will manage your whole holiday, from restaurant bookings to ensuring a smart 4 wheel drive vehicle is ready to take you skiing and keeping your glass topped up with a carefully chosen wine or a perfectly mixed gin & tonic.

A la carte breakfast is served daily, gourmet dinners offered on six nights and wine, Champagne and spirits are included. Our driver service offers a fleet of 4x4s to whisk you around the resort. Organic bathroom products, slippers, towels and bathrobes await after a hard day on the slopes.

Above all, our Premier service is personal and we will endeavour to make your stay your perfect holiday.

When to travel

Val d’Isère boasts one of the longest ski seasons in the world because, unlike other resorts above 1800m, 80% of the skiing happens above 2000 metres. As a result, early and late season offer reliable great conditions. Being high, it is cold though and we think March and April are the best times to visit Val.
