Description

The Blizzard is perfectly situated on the main high street in the centre of Val d’Isère just a short walk from the main ski lifts and nursery slopes. All the rooms and suites are comfortably furnished in an homely alpine style offering views of the mountains or the village.

The nostalgic, rustic hotel bar is popular for pre-dinner drinks before dining in the main gastronomic restaurant, where fresh market produce is used in the delicious dishes. Alternatively try ’’La Luge’’ restaurant serving local Savoyard specialities.

The relaxation facilities are some of the best in Val d'Isère, including a Clarins beauty therapy centre with a wide range of spa treatments, outdoor jacuzzi, a new exercise room, sauna, hammam and a heated outdoor pool and hot tub at the foot of the famous Bellevarde slope.

Val d'Isère is part of the Espace Killy ski area, home to 300km of high altitude pistes. In addition to cross-country and downhill skiing there are plenty of mountain activities available in the resort such as; snowshoeing, ice-skating, ice-climbing, husky sleigh rides, helicopter rides and paragliding.

Guide price £2,185 Per adult

£2,185 for 7 nights in a double room on a half board basis, including British Airways flights to Geneva and return airport private transfers in mid season.

Accommodation

The hotel has 57 rooms, 12 suites and 2 large family apartments. All the rooms and suites are comfortably furnished in an alpine-style and have views of either the mountains or the village alongside a warm and welcoming ambience. All rooms have a spacious private bathroom, telephone, satellite television, safe, internet access, hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers.

Childcare

Children are welcome but there are no facilities other than a children’s menu. The Scott Dunn exclusive children's club is available to guests and babysitting is also available.

Scott Dunn pioneered skiing holidays with childcare and this is an optional extra that many families consider indispensable. Our qualified professional staff offer childcare from 4 months and ensure that children have the most fantastic holiday and that parents can completely relax with peace of mind that their family is in great hands. Children can be taken to and collected from ski lessons and will be kept entertained with a varied and imaginative activity programme and given healthy home made lunches and snacks. Babysitting is available too.

Facilities

Fresh from the market cuisine is on offer at the Blizzard restaurant, or alternatively the second restaurant 'La Luge' serves local Savoyard specialities. The lounge bar has a fantastic ambience, perfect for beverages at any time of day. The outdoor heated swimming pool lies at the foot of the famous Bellevarde slope and the hot tub sits outside in the snow offering a soothing infusion of hot and cold. There is also a sauna, hammam, massages, fitness equipment and a beauty therapy centre in the Clarins Spa.

Activities

Val d’Isère is a mecca for downhill skiing for good reason. It has enough to keep skiers of all standards challenged and entertained for a lifetime, let alone a week. The off piste potential is limitless and the snow record enviable.

Val d'Isère has plenty to offer less enthusiastic skiers too. The new Oxygen centre has fantastic facilities including 2 swimming pools, climbing wall, multi activity sports hall, fitness suite, gym, squash courts and a Wellness area with sauna, steam bath, spa, cold baths and hydro-massage.

Designated walking trails are a great way of appreciating the scenery and there is an ice rink, husky riding, parapenting, skidooing, cross country skiing and much more.

There is a wealth of quality restaurants in the village and on the mountain (many of which are accessible to non skiers). The shops and galleries offer some great shopping (both the window and the real varieties).

When to travel

Val d'Isère boasts one of the longest ski seasons in the world because, unlike other resorts above 1800m, 80% of the skiing happens above 2000 metres. As a result, early and late season offer reliable great conditions. Being high, it is cold though and we think March and April are the best times to visit Val.
